Sophomore Dan Withrow was named the most valuable player of the Boston University men's outdoor track and field team after capturing the America East title in the discus throw and appearing in the NCAA regionals.
Withrow won the discus throw at the America East Championship on May 3 with a toss of 50.35m and went on to post a season-best mark of 50.87m at the IC4A Championship on May 15, allowing him to compete at the NCAA East Regional on May 30, where he finished in 20th place with a throw of 47.56m.
The Dedham, Mass., native also won the discus event at the Tufts Snowflake Classic on March 28 with a mark of 50.77m and was the runner-up in the event in three other meets throughout the spring. Withrow also competed in the shot put in three meets, posting a season-best mark of 15.51m at the Spec Towns Invitational on April 11.
