Neveu, Barwise Lead Collegians in High Jump at Valentine Invitational

BOSTON - Junior Karly Neveu and freshman Allison Barwise were the top two collegiate finishers in the high jump, highlighting action for the Boston University women's indoor track and field team on Friday at the BU Valentine Invitational, held at the BU Track and Tennis Center. Freshman Nikko Brady was fifth in the 55-meter hurdles.
Brady clocked an 8.09 to take fifth in the finals of the 55m hurdles with an ECAC Championship qualifying time after posting an 8.06 time in the preliminaries. Freshman Catherine Milledge was 15th in the event with an 8.49 time in the finals and 8.31 in the prelims and Barwise clocked an 8.55 to finish 24th.
In the high jump, Neveu and Barwise were fourth and fifth overall, respectively, both with marks of 1.63m.
Brady and Barwise also posted strong finishes in the long jump, with Brady coming in sixth (5.66m) and Barwise finishing ninth (5.63m).
In the sprints, sophomore Shelby Walton was seventh in the 55m dash with a time of 7.23, while sophomore Jackie Dim was 10th with a 7.32 after clocking a 7.22 in preliminaries. Brady finished 16th with a time of 7.34. Dim also competed in the 200m dash, finishing ninth with a time of 25.20. Junior Laura Martin was clocked at 58.28 in the 400m dash, good for 26th place.
Senior Sarah Mosser led the distance runners with a seventh place finish in the 1,000m run with her time of 2:57.90. Sophomore Mariko Takahashi was 20th in the 800m run, clocking a 2:15.12.
The Terriers are back in action next weekend, hosting the America East Championships on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 19-20) at the Track and Tennis Center, where they will be after their fifth straight conference title.
