Terriers Finish Second at Battle of Beantown

BOSTON - Paced by five first-place finishes, all meet records, the Boston University men's indoor track and field team finished second at the Battle of Beantown on Saturday at Gordon Track. Redshirt freshman R.J. Page won two sprints to lead the Terriers. Host Harvard captured the meet for the second year in a row.
The Crimson tallied 166 points to best the Terriers' tally of 119 points. Boston College was just behind with 117 points and Northeastern was fourth with 102 points.
Page dashed to meet records and IC4A Championship qualifying times at both 60 meters (6.94) and 200 meters (22.17). Junior Joel Senick set a meet record and qualified for IC4As by winning the 400m dash in 48.59 and finished fourth in the 200m dash in 22.52.
Senior Jeff Moreau also set a new meet record with his victory in the 800m run. His time of 1:52.05 qualified him for the IC4As. The Terriers' 4x800-yard relay team was BU's other winner, clocking a 7:47.07.
Two Terriers qualified for IC4As in the mile run as well. Freshman Robert Gibson was second in 4:13.06 and senior Eric Ashe finished third in 4:13.58. Other top finishers on the track included a second-place showing from freshman Ibifiri Wilcox (8.67) in the 60m hurdles and a fourth-place finish by junior Rich Haigh (9.09) in the same event. Junior Ken Haltom was fourth with a 2:29.03 in the 1,000m run.
Haigh was BU's top finisher in the field events with a mark of 1.94m in the high jump. Junior Logan Moore cleared 4.50m to finish third in the pole vault. Senior Jan Bicanic (15.35m) and junior Dan Withrow (15.31m) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the shot put.
The Terriers return to action on Saturday (Feb. 13), hosting the Valentine Invitational at the BU Track and Tennis Center.
