Terriers Win Six Events, Finish Second at Battle of Beantown

ALLSTON, Mass. - The Boston University men's track and field team won six events and finished second at the Battle of Beantown at Harvard's Gordon Indoor Track on Friday night. In addition, BU runners set three meet records.
BU finished with 158 points, just one point behind meet-winner Northeastern. Harvard finished third (131) and Boston College placed fourth with a score of 60.
Sophomore R.J. Page led the way for BU with two wins. He won the 60m dash (6.89) and also shared the 200m dash title and set a meet record with junior Tewado Latty (22.06).
Junior Matt Paulson, who won the mile run at the Terrier Invitational, set a meet record with his second mile-run victory of the season (4:08.85). BU's 4x400m relay team of Latty, freshman Stephen Vitale and seniors Mike Zimmerman and Joel Senick also garnered a win (3:19.95).
The Terriers also finished first and second in two races, including Latty (48.25) and Senick (48.58) in the 400m dash and freshman Rich Peters (8:10.53), who also set a meet record, and graduate student Eric Ashe (8:19.94) in the 3,000-meter run. Both Peters and Ashe ran IC4A-qualifying times.
In addition, senior James Weider (2:29.95) and freshman Blake Edwards (7.05m) posted IC4A-qualifying marks in 1,000m run and long jump, respectively.
The men's track & field team will return to action on Sat., Feb. 12, when it competes in the Valentine Invitational at the BU Track & Tennis Center.
