
Matthews, Peters Named USTFCCCA All-Americans

NEW ORLEANS - A pair of the track & field members were named All-Americans by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday, with junior Katie Matthews earning First Team recognition and freshman Rich Peters garnering Second Team status.
Matthews earned her All-America status with a sixth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run at the NCAA championships on Friday. The Rocky Hill, Conn., native completed the race in 16:13.21.
On the men's side, Peters' was named a Second Team All-American based on his performance in the mile preliminaries. His time of 4:01.42 was good for 11th place, just one spot out of the finals.
The Boston University track & field teams will open the outdoor season on Saturday (March 19) when they compete at Northeastern's Husky Invitational.
