Stressenger Wins Steeplechase at Snowflake Classic

MEDFORD, Mass. - Sophomore Marita Stressenger captured the 3,000-meter steeplechase, as the Boston University women's track & field team competed at Tufts' Snowflake Classic at the Dussault Complex on Saturday.
Stressenger won the steeplechase by nearly three minutes with a time of 11:30.48.
The Terriers secured seven additional top-10 finishes, including sophomore Sophia Mercadante's sixth-place finish in the 200m dash (27.74) and ninth-place showing in the 400m dash (1:01.09).
Classmate Julia Mirochnick collected a pair of top-five finishes, as she finished fifth in both the 100m dash (16.34) and 400m hurdles (1:08.58). Alyssa Williamson placed second in the high jump (J1.55m), while junior Alyson Rofrano (J2.75m) and Susan Ottey (34.06m) finished fourth in the pole vault and discus, respectively.
The Terriers will return to action next week at two meets. BU will head to the Texas Relays on Friday and Saturday (April 8-9) and also send participants to the George Davis Invitational on Saturday.
