CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - After setting a school record at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational, junior Katie Matthews of the Boston University women's track & field team has been named the America East Track Performer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Matthews won the invitational's 5,000-meter run on Friday with a time of 16:01.16, breaking Marisa Ryan's three-year-old mark (16:02.95). The Rocky Hill, Conn., native posted the conference's fastest time in the event during the outdoor season.
A First Team All-American during the indoor campaign, Matthews also earned a personal record in the 10,000m at the Stanford Invitational on March 25.
The junior became the second straight Terrier to garner track performer of the week honors, as the conference recognized classmate Shelby Walton on April 19.
BU will return to action at the three-day Penn Relays, beginning on Thursday (April 28).
