Barwise Competes in High Jump on Day Two of NCAA Championships
DES MOINES, Iowa - Junior Katie Matthews of the Boston University women's track & field team earned first-team All-America status with an eighth-place finish in the 10,000-meter final at the NCAA championships at Drake Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Rocky Hill, Conn., native crossed the finish line in 34:45.77, more than 18 seconds ahead of the next finisher.
With the top-eight finish, Matthews became the first Terrier to achieve U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-America honors twice in a calendar year since Tahari James and Marisa Ryan each accomplished the feat in 2008.
On Thursday (June 9), sophomore Allison Barwise, who failed to make a height in the high jump, capped her season as a USTFCCCA Honorable Mention All-American. Senior Whitney Ford will conclude action for the Terriers on Friday (June 10) when she competes in the triple jump.
