Previously named the most valuable runner for the women's cross country team, junior Katie Matthews was tabbed the top performer for the women's track and field team during the 2010-11 season.
Becoming the first Terrier since 2008 to earn All-America honors twice in a calendar year, Matthew single-handedly placed BU tops among Division I-AAA schools at the NCAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships by finishing sixth in the 5,000-meter run. She came back for her second award at the Outdoor Championships by taking eighth in the 10,000-meter final.
A Rocky Hill, Conn., native, the America East All-Academic Team honoree helped the Terriers to a second-place finish at the America East Outdoor Championships. She captured the 5,000m title while maintaining a 3.61 GPA majoring in speech, language and hearing sciences.
