Dec. 17, 2012
Boston University assistant track & field coach Gabe Sanders will be one of the speakers at the 2012 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Convention, which takes place on Dec. 17-20 in Orlando, Fla.
Sanders will speak on Tuesday (Dec. 18), during the first session of symposiums. His topic, related specifically to sprints/hurdles, is entitled "Growing as a Sprints Coach: Common Mistakes along the Way and Their Value."
Entering his fifth season at BU in 2012-13, Sanders has been in the national spotlight of late thanks to an incredibly successful 2012 campaign. He was named the USTFCCCA Northeast Region Men's Indoor Track & Field Assistant Coach of the Year in March after he coached his sprinters to five America East titles at the 2012 conference championships.
Last season, Sanders coached 12 individual conference champions and two relay champions. Those results included three conference meet records. On the men's side, Sanders coached the America East Most Outstanding Performer during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Sanders' event areas also achieved three school records and four NCAA First Round marks in 2012.
The Terriers will begin their 2013 indoor season on Jan. 17, when BU hosts its Multi-Team Meet at the Track and Tennis Center.
