
Four Terriers Claim First Place at MIT Invitational

CAMBRDIGE, Mass. - Four members of the Boston University women's track & field team earned first-place finishes at the MIT Invitational on Saturday.
Juniors Allison Barwise and Susan Ottey joined sophomores Chelsea Curry and Sarah Dillard as Terriers who garnered first-place laurels. All four Terriers won in field events.
Barwise was first in the high jump with a mark of 1.83m. Ottey was tops in the hammer throw with a toss of 42.58m. Dillard won the discus with a throw of 43.41m, while Curry was best in the shot put with a mark of 13.25m.
Curry and Barwise also fared well in other events. Curry was tied for second in the hammer throw with a toss of 41.86m, while Barwise placed fifth in the 200m dash (26.41). Elsewhere, sophomore Chelsey Hanson was second in the triple jump (10.81m), while freshman Victoria Perez placed fourth in the 400m hurdles (1:05.07) and eighth in the 100m hurdles (17.52). Junior Danielle Bowen finished ninth in the 1500m run (4:57.87).
At the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, N.J., senior Shelby Walton sprinted to a third-place finish in the 200m dash (24.25) and a fourth-place finish in the 100m dash (11.89). Junior Julia Mirochnick also had a pair of top-15 finishes, as she placed 12th in both the 100m hurdles (14.80) and the 400m hurdles (1:01.64).
BU will be back in action next weekend when the Terriers travel to the Penn Relays (April 26-29) and the Brown Springtime Open (April 29).
