After earning All-America accolades twice in 2012 and qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Trials, junior Allison Barwise was named Most Outstanding Performer of the women's track and field team.
Barwise began the year with an outstanding indoor season, which culminated with a fifth-place finish in the high jump at the NCAA Championships. She was named a First Team All-American by the USTFCCCA for her effort. Barwise was also instrumental in helping the Terriers capture the program's 12th America East Championship. The junior won the Coaches' Award after she accumulated the most points of any other female competitor (24). She also broke her own conference record in the high jump with a mark of 1.82m.
During the outdoor season, Barwise once again advanced to the NCAA Championships in the high jump, finishing ninth with a mark of 1.83m. She earned a Second Team All-America nod for her effort. Barwise was also recognized as the USTFCCCA Northeast Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year. She shined at the America East Championships, shattering her own heptathlon record (5276) and also claiming first in the high jump (1.70m).
The Orange, Conn., native concluded her year with an 11th-place finish at the U.S. Olympic Trials. She qualified for the event with a personal-best height of 1.87m.
