Terriers Conclude Homestand with 6-1 Win over Binghamton

BOSTON - Concluding a three-match homestand, the Boston University women's tennis team swept through doubles and won five singles matches to earn a 6-1 victory against Binghamton on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Terriers improve to 3-0, while the Bearcats dropped to 0-2.
After claiming an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles with senior Jessi Linero, sophomore Sami Lieb continued her stellar play at No. 2 singles by dropping just one game. Through three matches in the spring, she has now won 36 of 42 (.857) games played.
Playing in the No. 3 slot, Linero coasted through the first set of her match and held on in the second for a 6-0, 6-4 victory. Freshman Kim McCallum had similar success at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-4 win after earning an 8-5 victory in No. 3 doubles with senior Vivien Laszloffy.
Freshmen Lauren Davis and Madison Craft teamed together at the top doubles spot for an 8-4 victory. Davis then rallied from a set down against Binghamton's No. 1 Sara Kohtz to win the second and set up the day's lone three-set match. She won the first three games before Kohtz pulled out due to injury in the 5-7, 6-2, 3-0 victory.
Making her first appearance of the spring season, junior Kendal Drake dropped just three games in a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles.
looking to help BU claim the sweep, Craft was ahead, 5-2, at No. 5 singles when she had to retire due to injury.
The Terriers will next play the Big 10's Wisconsin on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 1 p.m. on the campus of Dartmouth University in New Hampshire.
