Women's Tennis Ends Harvard Fall Classic on High Note

ALLSTON, Mass. - Competing in its final tournament of the fall season, the Boston University women's tennis team concluded the three-day Harvard Fall Classic with a singles sweep over Big 10 member Illinois.
Freshman Barbara Rodriguez led the Terriers with a perfect 3-0 record in singles competition, knocking off opponents from Brown, Harvard and Illinois. Sophomores Johanna Hyoty and Kim McCallum both collected victories over the Bears and Fighting Illini.
Sophomore Lauren Davis and senior Leonie-Charlotte Athanasiadis also had a win to help the Terriers post a 9-8 singles mark in the event.
Illinois went 14-11 last season and finished fifth in the Big 10 standings. The Terriers won seven of the eight sets and added a super tiebreaker victory to complete the sweep.
The Terriers will next hit the courts in 2014 when they host Rhode Island in the first dual match of the season on Sunday, Jan. 26. Action is set for 10 a.m.
