Women's Swimming Claims Third at Terrier Invitational

BOSTON - The Boston University women's swimming team posted a third place finish after the three-day Terrier Invitational hosted by BU from Friday (Nov. 22) through Sunday (Nov. 24) at the Competition Pool.

Vermont finished in first with a total of 754 points while Massachusetts placed second with 661 points. The Terriers finished with 601 points for third place followed by New Hampshire (573), Boston College (500) and Northeastern (468).

The day started for the Terriers with a win in the 1650 freestyle by sophomore Stephanie Nasson (17:10.45). Freshman Kaitlin Law placed fourth with a time of 17:23.80. In the next event, the 200 backstroke, senior Kendra Cheng earned points with a seventh-place showing (2:05.97).

Junior Alexsa Savage (52.51) and freshman Christy Wilde (52.64) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 100 freestyle. In the 200 breaststroke, sophomore Karla Ferrara was the top finisher for BU with a time of 2:22.73 to claim ninth.

Junior Avery Visser led BU with a time of 2:05.35 in the 200 butterfly for sixth place.

In the final race of the day, the Terriers' team of Savage, Wilde, sophomore Mika Spencer and junior Courtney Grace placed sixth with a time of 3:30.86.

BU returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 7, when the Terriers host Rutgers at the Competition Pool. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
