CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - After leading the Boston University women's tennis team to a 5-2 victory over defending Atlantic 10 champion Richmond in the top singles spot, freshman Lauren Davis has been named America East Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
A native of Mitchellville, Md., Davis opened the dual match against the Spiders by teaming with freshman Kim McCallum for an 8-6 win in doubles to help the Terriers clinch the first point. She then made quick work of last year's A-10 Rookie of the Year Melissa Kandinata in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Currently on a two-match win streak in singles action, Davis leads the Terriers (5-4) with 12 victories overall.
