BOSTON - Earning its second sweep of the season, the Boston University women's tennis team claimed a 7-0 victory over Albany on Thursday afternoon at the Track & Tennis Center. With their fourth win in five games, the Terriers improve to 7-5, while the Great Danes fall to 5-9.
BU won the three doubles matches by a combined score of 24-4 for the first point and then captured all six singles points in straight sets.
Junior Leonie-Charlotte Athanasiadis and freshman Kim McCallum won every game for comfortable 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 3 and No. 5, respectively. Freshman Lauren Davis dropped just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 win at the top slot.
After teaming with senior Vivien Laszloffy for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles, sophomore Sami Lieb earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory in the No. 2 singles match. Senior Jessi Linero won her No. 4 match, 6-1, 7-6, and junior Kendal Drake claimed her second dual win of the season at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-4.
The Terriers will next play their final home match of the season on Friday (March 28) against in-state rival Massachusetts with action set to begin at 3 p.m. BU will recognize the accomplishments of seniors Vivien Laszloffy and Jessi Linero.
