FAIRFAX, Va. - The Boston University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the George Mason Invitational on Saturday at George Mason Stadium.

On the men's side, freshman Alec Olson improved his time in the 3,000m steeplechase by nearly 10 seconds as he took second place with a time of 9:18.86, good for second best in the America East. Classmate Kevin Thomas turned in a fourth-place performance in the 5,000m run with a time of 14:28.11. Sophomore Stuart Ross improved his time in the 800m run as he set the conference standard with a time of 1:51.13. Senior Ben Ravetz completed the 1,500m run in 3:58.63.

Senior Nikko Brady helped lead the women's team as she took third in the 100m hurdles (14.01) while classmate Shelby Walton was sixth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.06 seconds. Sophomore Tessa Runels was impressive in the triple jump as she finished third with a leap of 11.96 meters.

In the 5,000m run, senior Danielle Bowen was sixth (17:25.83) and freshman Shelby Stableford finished ninth (18:04.81), both times personal bests. Freshman Michelle Sumner (18:20.35) also competed in the 5,000m run while senior Nikki Long (4:34.89) and sophomore Ashli Tagoai (4:46.36) each ran personal bests in the 1,500m run.

BU will be in action next weekend at both the Larry Ellis Invitational (April 19-20) and the MIT Invitational (April 20).
