PHILADELPHIA - The Boston University men's and women's track & field teams competed at the prestigious Penn Relays this past weekend at Franklin Field.
On the men's side, senior R.J. Page finished seventh in the 100m dash with a time of 10.58 seconds. Page qualified for the 100m dash championship thanks to a time of 10.55 seconds in his heat. Graduate student Zachary Ray turned in a time of 14.37 seconds in his qualifying heat of the 110m hurdles. He also had a time of 53.49 seconds in the 400m hurdles.
On the women’s side, the 4x100m relay team of sophomore Gemma Acheampong and seniors Nikko Brady, Julia Mirochnick and Shelby Walton combined for a time of 47.29 seconds. The foursome also competed in the 4x200m relay and posted a time of 1:39.77. Brady finished 13th in her qualifying heat for the 100m hurdles championship thanks to a season-best mark of 13.94 seconds.
Acheampong (12.03) and Walton (12.05) finished 20th and 21st, respectively, in qualifying heats for the 100m dash while Mirochnick competed in the 400m hurdles championship (1:02.93). Sophomore Tessa Runels had a mark of 11.27 meters in the triple jump.
BU will conclude the weekend with athletes competing at the Payton Jordan Invitational on Sunday at Stanford.
