INDIANAPOLIS - Five members of the Boston University men's track and field team qualified for the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's Track and Field Preliminary Championships, the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Committee announced on Thursday.
Freshman Reuben Horace, seniors Tewado Latty and R.J. Page, junior Rich Peters and graduate student Zachary Ray will all compete at the East region preliminaries to be held May 23-25 at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C. This is the third straight year that Latty and Page have qualified for the meet and the second straight year that Peters and Ray will compete at prelims.
After a fantastic freshman season, Horace will compete in the hammer throw during his debut at an NCAA preliminary meet. Latty will take part in the 400m dash and Page will participate in the 200m dash. Peters is the top seeded runner and will once again take aim at the 1,500m run; he finished sixth in the national final and was a First Team All-America selection last year. Ray, who advanced to the national semifinal of the 400m hurdles last year while at Maryland, will compete in both the 400m hurdles and 110m hurdles.
Start lists for next week's meet will be available on Tuesday, May 21.
