GREENSBORO, N.C. - Graduate student Katie Matthews of the Boston University women's track and field team advanced to the NCAA Championships in the 10,000m run on Thursday night at North Carolina A&T.
Competing in the 2013 NCAA Division I Women's Track and Field Preliminary Championships, Matthews placed third in the 10,000m run with a time of 33:27.28. It is now the fastest time in the conference, as she edged Maine's Corey Conner by over a second in Thursday's race.
This is the second time that Matthews has advanced to the NCAA Championships in the 10,000m run. She finished eighth in 2011 and was named a First Team All-American. The Rocky Hill, Conn., native was a two-time All-American during the indoor season.
Senior Nikko Brady concluded her season on Friday as she had a time of 13.81 seconds in the 100m hurdles. Her time of 13.55 seconds earlier this year remains the fastest time in the conference.
