CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior R.J. Page of the Boston University men's track & field team and graduate student Katie Matthews of the women's track & field team each earned America East All-Academic honors, the conference announced on Thursday.
This is the third straight year that Page has been named to the outdoor track & field All-Academic team and he is the lone repeat member of this year's squad. A dual major in economics and business administration & management, he graduated with a 3.49 grade-point average.
Page excelled on the track during the outdoor season, as he had the top 200m dash time in the conference (21.07) and the second-fastest 100m dash time in the America East (10.54). He was also part of the record-setting 4x200m relay team at the Texas Relays.
This is the second All-Academic nod for Matthews this year, as she was named to the indoor squad as well. She maintained a 3.94 GPA while pursuing a master's of science in speech-language pathology. She has the second-fastest time in the conference in the 10,000m run (33:36.68) and was a two-time All-American during the indoor season.
Matthews and Page were both recognized in April as America East Winter Scholar-Athletes. The duo will compete at the NCAA Division I Track and Field Preliminary Championships which begin on Thursday in Greensboro, N.C.
