BOSTON - The No. 22 Boston University men's soccer team resumes its Patriot League schedule on Saturday afternoon when it hosts Lafayette at Nickerson Field for the first time in program history with action slated to begin at 2 p.m.
The Terriers (9-2-1, 4-0-0 PL) are currently riding an eight-game unbeaten streak, having outscored opponents by a 16-5 margin during the run after going 6-10-1 last year. BU returns home after claiming road wins at Holy Cross (1-0), Lehigh (2-0) and Soccer America's No. 25 Dartmouth (3-1).
After starting the year 1-3-0, Lafayette (5-6-2, 1-3-0 PL) has posted a 4-3-2 record over the past month with all six losses being decided by one goal. In total, six games have gone to double overtime with the Leopards finishing 1-3-2. They are coming off a three-game homestand in which they posted victories over Lehigh (2-0) and Buffalo (1-0) and dropped a hard-fought 3-2 (2OT) decision to Holy Cross.
Six Leopards have scored to put Lafayette in a 13-13 deadlock with opponents in goals. Eric West has found the back of the net four times to lead LC with eight points, while Greg Biggiani has two goals and an assist for five points. Sandy Leavy has started 12 contests at goal and owns a 0.768 save percentage and 1.00 goals against average with five shutouts.
On Tuesday, sophomore Felix De Bona became the sixth Terrier to record two goals this season, and senior Parker Powell became the 13th to tally at least one point with his score in the 45th minute at Dartmouth. Senior Dominique Badji remains the team leader in goals (6) and points (14) but now sits behind freshman David Amirani's three game winners.
Senior Nick Thomson went 344 straight minutes without allowing a goal until Dartmouth converted off a corner kick against the Terriers. He owns a 0.865 save percentage and a 0.57 goals against average with six shutouts.
Following the contest, the Terriers will conclude the non-conference schedule at crosstown rival Boston College on Tuesday (Oct. 21) at 7 p.m.
