Three Victories Pace Terriers at Scarlet & White Invitational

BOSTON - The Boston University men's track & field team hosted the Scarlet and White Invitational on Saturday at the Track and Tennis Center.
BU was victorious on three separate occasions and posted 26 top-10 finishes. The Terriers claimed the top three spots of the 200m dash, led by Freshman Cameron Williams' time of 21.65 seconds. Sophomore David Lagerberg (21.70) and freshman Justin Flynn (21.75) were second and third, respectively. The 4x400m relay team of Lagerberg, freshman Alastair Prenn, Flynn and senior Stephen Vitale combined to win with a time of 3:20.72. Williams was also seventh in the finals of the 60m dash (7.11) and Vitale (8.69) finished fifth in the finals of the 60m hurdles.
Freshman Matti Groll won the 1,000m run (2:28.43) while junior Alex Civitano (2:32.29) was seventh. Senior Stuart Ross (1:50.63) and freshman Ethan Homan (1:51.07) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 800m run. Sophomore Alec Olson (8:15.46) was ninth in the 3,000m run.
In field events, junior Michael Maloof (16.13m) was second in the weight throw and classmate Ethan Knight (15.66m) was third in the shot put. Senior Connor Sullivan (1.95m) took third in the high jump while freshman Sebastian Prieto Vasquez (1.80m) secured sixth. Junior Nikolaos Farmakidis (4.65m) was third in the pole vault, with sophomore Fritz Howser (4.35m) and freshman Brian Shaeffer (4.35m) finishing eighth and ninth, respectively.
Seniors Sam Arsenault (6.77m) and Blake Edwards (6.69m) were third and fourth, respectively, in the long jump. Freshman Tyler Malone finished fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.24 meters, with Edwards behind him in eighth (12.85m).
BU will be back in action next weekend when the Terriers make their debut in the Patriot League Championships, held Feb. 21-23 at Bucknell.
