
Peters Paces Terriers to Fourth Place at Patriot League Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Senior Rich Peters won two events and sophomore Reuben Horace was also victorious as the Boston University men's track & field team finished fourth at the Patriot League Championships, which concluded Sunday at Bucknell's Gerhard Fieldhouse.
Peters was named Male Track Athlete of the Meet after two victories on Sunday. He claimed first in the mile with a time of 4:04.74 and won the 1,000m run with a mark of 2:26.90. Peters won the mile by over seven seconds and was joined in the top five by junior Ben Ravetz (4:13.02), who took third.
BU placed fourth with 109 points. Navy won with 201.83 points, followed by Bucknell (173) in second and Army (135.33) in third. The Terriers earned 15 top-five finishes during the weekend.
Horace's victory came on Saturday in the weight throw. He had a personal-best toss of 19.31 meters, which topped his previous career high of 19.00 meters. Two Terriers earned points in field events on Sunday, as juniors Ethan Knight in the shot put (15.65m) and Nikoalos Farmakidis in the pole vault (4.65m) each finished sixth.
Freshman Justin Flynn finished fourth in the 60m dash final with a time of 6.94 seconds. Sophomore David Lagerberg came in third in the 200m dash with a time of 49.16 seconds. Lagerberg (22.01) was also fifth in the 200m dash, with Flynn finishing seventh (22.38).
Senior Stuart Ross had a mark of 1:54.65 in the 800m run to finish third. Sophomores Kevin Thomas (8:21.74) and Alec Olson (8:22.04) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 3,000m run.
Two Terrier relay teams had a top-five finish, including the distance medley team of Ross, Ravetz and freshmen Matti Groll and Ethan Homan. They secured second with a time of 10:06.08. The foursome of Flynn, Lagerberg, freshman Alastair Prenn and senior Stephen Vitale was fifth in the 4x400m relay (3:21.35).
BU will be back in action next weekend when the Terriers host the New England Championships on Feb. 28 and March 1 at the Track and Tennis Center.
