
Five Terriers Qualify for NCAA East Prelims

INDIANAPOLIS - Five members of the Boston University women's track and field team qualified for the 2014 NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championships, the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Committee announced on Thursday.
Gemma Acheampong, Monica Adler, Allison Barwise, Nikko Brady and Rosa Moriello will all represent BU at the competition, held May 29-31 at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. For Barwise, this is her fourth straight appearance at the East prelims, while Brady and Adler have each qualified for the second time. Acheampong and Moriello will be making their NCAA outdoor debuts next week.
Barwise ranks third in the NCAA thanks to a school-record mark of 1.89 meters, achieved at the Patriot League Championships. She finished ninth in the high jump at the NCAA Championships in 2012. Brady will take part in two events, as she has a mark of 6.21 meters in the long jump, set at the Penn Relays, as well as a time of 13.68 seconds that won her the 100m hurdles at the Patriot League Championships.
Adler will compete in the 1,500m run thanks to a personal-best time of 4:24.79 in the 1,500m run. She was a USTFCCCA First-Team All-American in the mile during the 2014 indoor season. Acheampong set the school record in the 100m dash with a time of 11.61 seconds at the Patriot League Championships. Moriello's personal-best time of 16:18.08 in the 5,000m run was attained at the ECAC Championships.
