Hammer Throw Results | 3,000m Steeplechase Results
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sophomores Reuben Horace and Alec Olson of the Boston University men's track & field team competed at the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Track and Field Preliminary Championships at the University of North Florida on Friday night.
Horace concluded his outdoor season with a toss of 57.02 meters in the hammer throw. He entered the weekend having posted a personal-best mark of 60.61 meters at the IC4A Championships. This was his second appearance at the NCAA East prelims and he improved on last year's mark by nearly five meters. Horace was the Patriot League champion in the hammer throw.
Olson made his debut at the prelims with a time of 8:58.91 in the 3,000m steeplechase. He shined in the 3,000m steeplechase this season and posted a personal-best time of 8:54.70 at the IC4A Championships. He was the Patriot League champion in that event and improved upon his previous-best time in each meet this year entering the weekend.
Rich Peters will compete on Saturday (6:30 p.m.) in the quarterfinals of the 1,500m run. The top five finishers in each of the two heats plus the next two fastest times will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, on June 11-14.
