Sumner Selected as PL Runner of the Week

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Junior Michelle Sumner of the Boston University women's cross country team was named the Patriot League Female Runner of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Sumner finished second at the Nassaney Invitational on Saturday to help the Terriers take the team title. She crossed the finish line with a time of 18:04.2 and was one of three BU harriers to place in the top 10. The Terriers posted a 16-point margin of victory over second-place Boston College.

Sumner was an All-League honoree at last year's Patriot League Championship after she finished 13th. Saturday's performance was her best-ever finish at a cross country event.

BU will return to action on Sept. 27 when the Terriers take part in the Ted Owen Invitational in New Britain, Connecticut.
