The No. 7 Boston University women's ice hockey team will conclude its home-and-home series with Providence on Monday night when the Terriers host the Friars at Walter Brown Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
Monday's game was originally scheduled for Sunday afternoon but the most recent snowstorm to hit New England forced the postponement. BU (20-7-2, 14-4-0 WHEA) earned a 6-1 win at Providence (6-20-4, 5-12-1 WHEA) on Saturday.
It will be an important night at Walter Brown on Monday as the Terriers host "Do It For Daron Mental Health Awareness Night." DIFD is an organization dedicated to raising awareness, inspiring conversations and transforming youth mental health. Proceeds will benefit the Boston chapter of the American Foundation of Suicide prevention in conjunction with the Do It For Daron Foundation.
The Terriers were led by junior Sarah Lefort in their 6-1 win over the Friars. She notched her fifth career hat trick and added an assist for a four-point afternoon. Senior captain Marie-Philip Poulin potted her team-leading 21st goal of the season and also had two helpers while freshmen Victoria Bach and Rebecca Leslie each collected two points with a goal and an assist apiece.
Lefort, Poulin and junior Kayla Tutino have combined to become one of the most potent lines in the country. Since they first formed the Terriers' top trio on Jan. 7 at Boston College, the three skaters have combined for 46 points on 22 goals and 24 assists.
The Friars have lost their last five games and six of their last seven entering Monday night. Senior Beth Hanrahan leads the team in goals (14) and points (25). Classmate Haley Frade is second in points (21) thanks to a team-leading 13 assists. Hanrahan and sophomore Cassidy Carels each have 11 helpers.
Junior goaltender Allie Morse is 6-17-2 in 25 starts, posting a 3.10 goals-against average and a .896 save percentage this season. Morse allowed all six goals on Saturday before being pulled in the third period in favor of sophomore Alanna Serviss (1.23 GAA, .968%).
Following Monday's game, BU will trek to Chestnut Hill to face top-ranked Boston College on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
