PRINCETON, N.J. - Highlighted by a record performance from the 4x100m relay team, the Boston University men's track & field team competed at the IC4A Championships this past weekend at Princeton's William Weaver Track & Field Stadium.
BU finished with 23.50 points, good for 16th overall in a 47-team field. The Terriers also finished third among Patriot League squads at the meet.
On Sunday, the 4x100m relay team of Justin Flynn, David Lagerberg, Alastair Prenn and Cameron Williams once again broke their own school record. The foursome finished second in the final with a time of 40.19 seconds, which in addition to setting a new school record also broke the previous New England record of 40.27 seconds set by UConn in 2012. It also secured the quartet a spot in the NCAA East Preliminary Championships. The previous school standard was 40.65 seconds, set two weeks ago at the Patriot League Championships.
Williams was also terrific in the 200m dash, finishing second with a time of 20.94 seconds to earn another eight points for the Terriers. Classmate Ethan Homan finished sixth in the finals of the 800m run with a time of 1:51.86 to earn an additional three points. He qualified with a personal-best pace of 1:50.15 in the prelims. In the 1,500m run, sophomore Matti Groll posted a time of 4:03.67.
