JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Senior Gemma Acheampong and sophomore Toria Levy each competed at the opening day of the 2015 NCAA Division I Men's Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championships, held at the University of North Florida on Thursday.
Acheampong, the Patriot League champion and school-record holder in the 100m dash, was edged in her heat in that event, finishing fourth with a time of 11.85 seconds. She capped a terrific collegiate career that was highlighted by her record time of 11.49 seconds at the conference championship.
Levy, who qualified for last year's NCAA East prelims but was unable to compete, ran the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:00.29. Her mark of 59.20 seconds at the ECAC Championships helped her advance to Jacksonville.
Senior Rosa Moriello will be the final member of the women's track & field team to compete this weekend when she races in the 5,000m run on Saturday at 8:05 p.m.
