NEW YORK - The Boston University women's cross country team competed at the NCAA Northeast Regional on Friday morning at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.

BU finished 21st in the 37-team field with a score of 592, one point from cracking the top 20. Courtney Breiner concluded her strong sophomore campaign with a 49th-place finish. She crossed the line in 21:41.0 to once again lead the Terriers at this event and improve her spot by over 50 places from 2015.

Senior Michelle Sumner (22:32.40), in just her second race of the season, was next in 119th position. She was followed by senior Hallie Armstrong (22:46.40), freshman Abigail Gugel (22:47.60), junior Gabrielle DiRenzo (22:50.60) and junior Paige Ferrucci (22:32.20).

The Terriers will now turn their attention to the indoor track and field season, which begins on Dec. 3 with the BU Season Opener at the Track and Tennis Center.
