Terriers Begin Indoor Campaign at BU Opener

BOSTON - The Boston University women's track & field team began its indoor season on Saturday by hosting the BU Opener at the Track & Tennis Center.
Sophomore Lovie Burleson was the Terriers' lone victor of the afternoon, securing first in the triple jump (12.10m) She also ran the 60m dash prelims (8.00), an event in which junior Maya Marshall qualified for the final thanks to a heat time of 7.83 seconds. Marshall placed eighth in the final.
Senior Toria Levy led a trio of Terriers in the final of the 60m hurdles, finishing second with a time of 8.62 seconds. Junior Tehya Noell (8.85) and senior Ally Saccone (8.92) finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Levy (8.66), Noell (8.71) and Saccone (8.78) were the top three qualifiers for the final.
In the 4x400m relay, the team of senior Djenne Parris, sophomore Jordan Coverson, freshman Cynthia Aroke and senior Kerri Graber finished third with a time of 3:53.08.
Levy bested Christy Wood's facility record in the 300m dash, ultimately finishing third with a time of 38.37 seconds. Parris (39.85) took sixth, with Coverson (40.63), Aroke (41.01), Noell (41.29), Saccone (41.44) and Graber (42.65) also running that race.
Freshman Lauren Gruber (2:22.77), sophomore Casey Kelly (2:23.73) and sophomore Jordan Nustad (2:25.45) each competed in the 800m run. Kelly (9.99) was part of a contingent of Terriers than competed in the prelims of the 60m hurdles. That included sophomore Kennedy Jones (9.14), Aroke (9.14), senior Christie Molloy (9.52), freshman Gillian Morrison (9.53), Coverson (9.56) and senior Adrienne Pascucci (9.70).
In field events, sophomore Sarah Cicchetti finished sixth in the weight throw (14.69m) and took eighth in the shot put (12.15m). Molloy (11.43m) and Morrison (10.39m) also competed in the shot put. Morrison's afternoon was highlighted by a sixth-place performance in the high jump (1.60m), an event in which Pascucci (1.50m) also competed. Freshman Zoe Beard (3.50m), freshman Sarah Chow (3.35m), senior Sarah Kert (3.20m) and sophomore Rachel Wilhelm (3.20m) all took part in the pole vault
BU will return to action on Jan. 19 when the Terriers host the Multi-Team Meet at the TTC.
