
Terriers Sweep Navy, 7-0, in Rematch of PL Final

BOSTON - In a rematch of last year's Patriot League tournament final, the two-time defending conference champion Boston University women's tennis team swept Navy, 7-0, on Sunday morning at the Boston Athletic Club.
Dropping just one set in singles action, the Terriers improve to 2-0, while the Midshipmen drop to 5-2.
Five BU women were victorious in both singles and doubles to blank Navy for the first time since claiming a 4-0 victory over the Midshipmen last spring to clinch an NCAA berth.
Senior Johanna Hyoty teamed with freshman Sabrina Faybyshev for a 6-3 victory in the top doubles slot. Hyoty then defeated 2015 All-PL Second Team honoree Amanda Keller, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 1 singles. Faybyshev also had great success at No. 4 against Sam Droop, 6-4, 6-1.
Senior Lauren Davis dropped the fewest games at No. 2 singles in a dominating 6-1, 6-1 performance, Earlier in doubles, she teamed with classmate Kim McCallum for a 6-4 win at line 3. McCallum rallied from a set down to beat Katie Porter, 5-7, 6-4, 12-10, in the No. 6 singles slot and complete the sweep.
2015 PL tournament MVP and sophomore Iryna Kostirko posted a win at No. 2 doubles with junior Barbara Rodriguez and then rolled to a No. 3 singles win, 6-3, 6-4. Freshman Remi Ramos claimed the other singles point at No.5, as she won the first set in quick fashion (6-1) before her opponent retired.
The Terriers will next return to the BU Track & Tennis Center and host Bryant on Friday (Feb. 5) at 3 p.m.
