
Terriers Rally to Defeat UConn, 4-3

BOSTON - Concluding a two-match homestand, the Boston University men's tennis team rallied for a 4-3 victory over UConn on Wednesday evening at the BU Track & Tennis Center.
The Terriers (3-2) dropped the doubles point and rallied to claim four singles points for their third straight win against the Huskies (2-8). The final result came down to the final singles point and junior Jake De Vries, who posted a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win in the No. 6 slot.
UConn jumped out ahead with identical 6-3 wins at lines 1 and 3 for the doubles point. The Huskies added two more points with singles wins against BU's No. 2 Stefan Lemire (2-6, 6-1, 6-3) and No. 4 Lucas Bombonatti (7-6, 6-4).
Junior Mario Sandoval collected his point at line 3 with an early 3-2 lead and his opponent retiring due to injury. Classmate Jay Leelavanich posted a 7-5, 6-0 win at the top spot, and freshman Satyajit Simhadri had similar success at No. 5 with a 6-2, 7-6 victory.
With the final result up for grabs, De Vries dropped his first set but rallied to claim the final point for the Terriers.
BU will next face Marist on Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Winchester Athletic Club in Winchester, Mass. Action will begin at 2:30 p.m.
