WINCHESTER, Mass. - The Boston University men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to defending MAAC champion Marist on Saturday afternoon at the Winchester Club.
Sweeping through doubles and capturing five singles points, the Red Foxes improve to 3-2, while the Terriers fall to 3-3.
The two squads battled in doubles with Marist winning all three matches by a combined five games to grab the 1-0 lead. The Red Foxes then claimed four singles points in straight sets.
Freshman Jeff Chan rallied from a set down to defeat Timo Tanzer, 3-6, 7-5, 10-7, at No. 6 singles to put BU on the scoreboard. Junior Lucas Bombonatti also mounted a rally at line 4 but came up just short in a tough tiebreaker for the 7-6, 4-6, 11-9 loss.
The Terriers will next make the short trek over to MIT on Friday (Feb. 26) for a 5 p.m. start time.
