
Terriers Compete in David Hemery Valentine Invitational

RESULTS
Led by five top 10 finishes, the Boston University women's track & field team competed in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday at the Track and Tennis Center.
The meet was highlighted by a strong performance in the 400 meter dash by senior Christy Wood who finished with a time of 54.49 to take 7th overall in a large and deep field of 195 runners. The time was just a shade off her personal best of 54.30 set back at the 2014 IC4A/ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. Also in the 400 meters, junior Djenne Parris finished 23rd with a personal-best time of 56.57.
Another standout performer for the Terriers was junior Toria Levy. Competing the the 200 meter dash, the Weston, Fla. native set a new personal-best time of 25.02 to finish 28th overall in a field of 237. The time broke her former best of 25.15, set at the Scarlet & White Meet last week.
In the women's 800 meter run, senior Jade Paul finished with a personal-best time of 2:11.47, good for 25th place in a field of 190. Also in the 800 meters, freshman Courtney Breiner finished 30th with a time of 2:12.00 in her first time competing in the event as a Terrier.
Junior Ally Saccone finished 19th in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.98 while senior Catherine Sampson took 25th with a personal-best time of 9:07.
In the 60 meter dash, sophomore Maya Marshall took 37th with a time of 7.99, just .01 seconds off her personal best, while freshman Jordan Coverson finished 49th with a time of 8.17 in a field of 96.
Junior Kerri Graber finished the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:19.53, good for 26th in a field of 57 and a new personal best.
Freshman Jamie Grossman made her debut in the 1 mile and finished 49th with a time of 5:02.79. In the same event, senior Shelby Stableford finished with a time of 5:03.51, good 52nd place in a large and deep field of 242 runners that saw the top four finishers with sub 4:30.00 times.
Freshman Lovie Burleson had another strong performance in the field, finishing fourth in the long jump out of 53 competitors with a 5.82 meter effort, just short of her personal best (5.85m). Also in the long jump, freshman Kennedy Jones finished sixth with a personal-best jump of 5.63 meters, besting her previous top mark of 5.39 meters set at the BU Season Opener.
The two freshman also had exellent perfomances in the triple jump. Jones established another personal best with jump of 12.32 meters to finish fourth overall while Burleson finished ninth with a 11.82m effort, also a personal best.
Rounding out the field events, junior Sarah Kert finished 12th in the pole vault with a 3.35 meter vault.
The David Hemery Valentine Invitational continues on Saturday with the men's competition beginning at 10:30 a.m. This weekend is the final competition for the Terriers before hosting the Patriot League Championships Feb. 19-21.
