
Terriers Drop 6-1 Decision to Maryland

ALLSTON, Mass. - Facing its second opponent in three days, the Boston University women's tennis team fell to Maryland, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Murr Center.
Ranked as high as No. 66 earlier in the dual season, the Terrapins (2-5) swept through doubles by a combined score of 18-6 for the first point and then claimed three singles points in straight sets en route to the win.
Senior Lauren Davis led BU (3-4) by rolling to a 6-4, 6-2 win over former All-ACC honoree Alexandra Stanova at No. 2 singles.
Two other Terriers claimed a set in an attempt to mount a rally but came up just short. Sophomore Iryna Kostirko fell to Nataliya Bredikhina, 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 in the No. 3 slot, while freshman Remi Ramos was edged, 6-1, 6-7, 10-6 at line 5.
BU will next host Holy Cross on Thursday, March 3, at 5 p.m. as part of the first-annual Turnpike Trophy all-sports competition between the Terriers and Crusaders.
