Birmingham, Ala. - Junior Cameron Williams of the Boston University men’s track & field team concluded his indoor season on Friday competing in the 200 meter dash at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships at Samford University.
Competing in the semifinals against the country's 15 fastest 200 meter sprinters with the top eight times advancing to the finals, Williams finished 10th with a time of 21.10, just .01 in back of the final qualifying time. The top time in the semis belonged to Christian Coleman of Tennessee, who finished with a time of 20.63 while the final qualifier was Tevin Hester of Clemson, who finished with a time of 21.09.
The top eight qualifiers will compete in the 200m dash finals on Saturday night beginning at 6:50pm (EST).
Friday’s race concludes a remarkable indoor season for Williams. The San Antonio, Texas native was named Patriot League Male Track Athlete of the Year after breaking his own school record in the 200 meter dash with a time of 20.58 at the PL Championships on Feb. 21. That time also set a new Patriot League record and tied for the fifth-fastest time in the country, qualifying the junior for a trip to this weekend’s national championships.
The Terriers will open their outdoor season on March 18 at the Hurricane Invitational in Miami, Fla.
