Men's Tennis Sends Three Terriers to Main Draw at ITA Regional Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Highlighted by sophomore Marc Sable's two singles wins, the Boston University men's tennis team featured four Terriers at the ITA Regional Championships on the campus of Yale University.
Sable was joined by junior Satyajit Simhadri, freshman David Bogatin and freshman Owen Lu, as the two newcomers also collected a singles win in the qualifying singles draw.
Bogatin cruised to a 6-2, 6-4 win over NJIT before dropping a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Columbia. on Wednesday. Lu was also one win away from joining Simhadri in the main draw after posting a 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 victory against Monmouth and falling to Colgate, 7-6, 6-2. A year after going 1-1 in the qualification rounds, Sable won both of his matches in straight sets against Wagner (6-3, 6-4) and St. Francis Pa. (6-4, 6-4).
On Thursday in the first round of the main singles draw, Simhadri battled Princeton's Jimmy Wasseman to a 6-4, 5-7, 4-4 stalemate when he had to retire due to injury. Playing his third singles match in two days, Sable almost extended his win streak to three contests but came up just short to Monmouth's Alberto Guiffrida, 6-4, 7-6.
In the doubles main draw, Simhadri and Lu were eliminated by a Princeton duo, 8-4.
The Terriers will next conclude the fall schedule at the Bryant Invite on Nov. 4-5.
