BOSTON - The Boston University women's openweight and lightweight rowing teams competed in Day 2 of the 53rd Head of the Charles Regatta (HOCR) on Sunday. The day was highlighted by a second-place finish in the women's lightweight championship eights race.

HOW IT HAPPENED (LIGHTWEIGHTS)
- In the women's lightweight 8 race, the Terriers battled old foe Stanford with the Terriers finishing second in a field of eight. Coxed by junior Taylor Alix and stroked by classmate Janice Hagerman, the lightweight varsity 8 boat finished with a time of 15:53.86, just in back of defending national champion Stanford (15:46.72) but ahead of third-place finisher Harvard (15:54.27).
- The BU lightweight 2V also competed in the lightweight 8 race and finished seventh with a time of 18:17.77.
- In the women's lightweight 4 race, the 4"A" finished fifth (fourth among collegiate boats) with a time of 18:25.77. Coxed by freshman Katie Barnett and stroked by junior Samantha Wapner, BU finished ahead of sixth-place finisher Harvard (18:32.12).
- The lightweight 4 "B" also competed in the lightweight 4 race and finished eighth with a time of 18:53.69.
- In the women's championship 8 race, the Terriers finished 29th in a field of 36 of the best boats in the country. Coxed by senior Jessica Grossman and stroked by classmate Kelsey Farmer, the BU 1V finished with a time of 16:09.96, ahead of crews from Boston College, Minnesota, Drexel and Connecticut.
- In the women's championship 4 race, the Terriers finishing 14th. Coxed by senior Erin Gannon and stroked by classmate Colie Toren, the openweight varsity 4 boat finished with a time of 18:30.77, ahead of crews from Duke (18:32.23) and Connecticut (19:26.75).
- The women's lightweight and openweight rowing team will next compete at the Foot of the Charles on Nov. 11th.
