EAST HARTFORD, Conn. – In a back-and-forth match that was decided by the final singles point in a three-set thriller, UConn eventually prevailed over the Boston University men's tennis team, 4-3, on Saturday evening at the East Hartford Tennis Center.

MATCH NOTES

The Huskies had one more break than the Terriers in all three doubles matches (6-4, 7-5, 6-4) to jump out to a 1-0 lead and then captured three of the six singles points, including the final two, for the victory.
UConn pushed the lead to 2-0 with the help of an early retirement at line 3.
Senior Jay Leelavanich (#2), senior Mario Sandoval (#4) and freshman J.P. Avila (#6) pushed BU to a 3-2 advantage by winning their respective contest in straight sets with Leelavanich (7-5, 6-0) and Sandoval (6-0, 6-4) both winning a set without dropping a game.
The Huskies tied the contest by edging senior Lucas Bombonatti at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-4.
Freshman Marc Sable rallied from a set down to force the evening's only three-set singles contest, but UConn's Arnaud Valentin came out ahead, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
BU dropped to 1-1 in matches this year decided by one point.

The Terriers will next travel to Lehigh for a pair of critical matchups that will help decide seeding for the conference tournament.
BU will first face the Mountain Hawks on Friday (April 7) at 5 p.m. and then the defending conference champions Army West Point on Saturday (April 8) at 10 a.m.
