June 24, 2017 | Men's Ice Hockey
CHICAGO - Four players who have committed to play for the Boston University men's ice hockey team were selected on day two of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft at the United Center.
A trio of defensemen (Kasper Kotsansalo, Cameron Crotty, David Farrance) went in the third round before forward Logan Cockerill was taken in the seventh round, giving BU a total of six players selected on the weekend after Jake Oettinger and Shane Bowers were drafted in Friday's first round. All four have signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play for the Terriers.
Kotsansalo, who played the past season with the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL, went to the Detroit Red Wings with the ninth pick of the third round (71st overall). Later in the third, Crotty from the Brockville Braves of the CCHL went to the Arizona Coyotes with the 82nd pick. With the 92nd pick, the Nashville Predators picked Farrance, who played for the U.S. National Team Development Program.
Cockerill, another commit from the NTDP, became BU's fourth selection of the day and sixth of the weekend when the New York Islanders selected him with the 201st pick.
For the second consecutive year, BU led all NCAA teams in the number of players drafted.
The Terriers' incoming Class of 2021 will be officially announced in early July.
