BOSTON – Facing their third in-state rival in four games, the Boston University men's soccer team will travel to UMass on Saturday with action set to begin at 1 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU will be facing its second Atlantic 10 opponent of the season following a season-opening defeat at Rhode Island.
  • The Terriers are scheduled to face all six other in-state Division I programs and have already met both Boston College and UMass Lowell.
  • Three of the Terriers' four losses this season have come against teams who had a top-20 RPI last season.
  • Despite owning a commanding 22-5 advantage in corner kicks over opponents and slight 44-43 lead in shots, the Terriers are still seeking their first goal of the season.
  • As the team's top-returning scorer from last season with three goals, sophomore Matt McDonnell leads BU with nine shot attempts, while senior Adam Sheikali has a team-high three shots on net.
  • Freshman William Bonnelyche and sophomore Michael Bernardi own two starts apiece at the goalkeeper position and have combined for 13 saves.
SCOUTING UMASS
  • Selected eighth in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll, the Minutemen went 7-9-3 last season and 4-2-2 in the conference standings.
  • UMass went 5-2-2 last year at home and is currently 2-0-1 this season with victories over St. Francis (2-1) and Sacred Heart (3-0) ... The 1-1 draw came against Columbia.
  • The Minutemen's lone loss occurred at No. 24 New Hampshire (3-0) on Tuesday.
  • Alex DeSantis leads UMass with six points off two goals and two assists, while Casey Hamill owns three assists ... A-10 All-Preseason defender Konrad Gorich is one of five men with a goal.
  • Bardia Asefnia has played every minute at net and owns a 0.762 save percentage and 1.18 goals against average.
SERIES HISTORY
  • UMass leads the all-time series, 21-17-7, but BU is riding a six-game unbeaten streak with four straight wins, including back-to-back 2-1 decisions.
  • Last year at Nickerson Field, DeSantis answered BU's 19th-minute goal with a header in the 30th minute following a UMass header and long throw-in, but the Terriers took the lead for good at 38:54 off a 18-yard shot from Anthony Viteri ... BU finished with a 17-8 advantage in shots and 4-2 lead in corners.
  • Two years ago at UMass, Viteri scored in the 9th minute and again in the 39th with what proved to be the game winner.
