
Terriers Compete at John Thomas Terrier Classic

RESULTS
BOSTON - The Boston University women's track & field team continued its indoor season on Friday by hosting the John Thomas Terrier Classic at BU's Track and Tennis Center. The Terriers went up against a very large and deep field made up of just under 1,500 student-athletes representing 80 universities. The event also featured hundreds of post-collegiate athletes competing for a wide variety of clubs.
The women's team had several strong performances, led by freshman Cecelia Gerstenbacher who finished fifth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.83 and 10th in the 200m dash (fourth among collegians), with a time of 24.93. Junior Jordan Coverson finished 11th (fifth among collegians) in the 400m dash with an excellent time of 56.89, a new personal best.

OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
With several world class post-graduate runners competing on Friday, several notable performance were once again recorded at BU's Track & Tennis Center. In the women's 1-mile run, Natalija Piliusina, running for team Brooks Beast, finished first with a time of 4:32.67, which stands as the third-fastest 1-mile run in the world this year. Kellyn Taylor of team Hoka Naz Eli finished second with a time of 4:33.40, the fourth-fastest mile in the world this year and a new personal best.

The John Thomas Terrier Classic continues on Saturday, Jan. 27th at the TTC with the men's competition scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. After this weekend, BU will next host the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational on Feb. 3rd.

- Freshman Cecelia Gerstenbacher qualified for the finals of the 60m dash, finishing fifth in the prelims in a large field of 64. In the finals, Gerstenbacher finished fifth with a time of 7.83.
- Jordan Coverson finished 11th (fifth among collegians) in the 400m dash with an excellent time of 56.89, a new personal best.
- Paige Ferrucci finished 20th (17th among collegians) in the 1000m run with a time of 2:59.78. `
- Gerstenbacher finished 10th in the 200m dash (fourth among collegians), with a time of 24.93.
- Freshman Raquel Tadeo finished 37th in the 1-mile run in a field of 132 with a time of 5:05.76.
- The 4x400m relay team of Jordan Coverson, Mikajah Hayes, Cynthia Aroke and Cecelia Gerstenbacher, finished fourth with a time of 3:54.65 in a field of 29 teams.
- In the field, Kennedy Jones finished third in the long jump with a 12.03m (39' 5.75") effort which ranks first in the Patriot League.
- Gillian Morrison finished eighth in the long jump with a 5.39m (17' 8.25") jump, a new personal best.
- Bridget Bishop finished eighth in the shot put with a toss of 13.29m (43' 7.25"), a new personal best
