Schroeder Named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore Corinne Schroeder of the Boston University women's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Schroeder was spectacular on Friday night in a 3-0 victory over Vermont, stopping all 26 shots she faced for her first collegiate shutout. She held Vermont scoreless during its four third-period power plays, including a 6-on-4 advantage during the final 1:45 of the contest. It was her sixth straight start in which she had held an opponent to two goals or fewer. Schroeder finished the weekend series with 19 saves in a 3-3 tie with the Catamounts.
A native of Elm Creek, Manitoba, Schroeder has been sharp over her last seven starts. In that time she has posted a 1.53 goals-against average and a .944 save percentage. For the season, Schroeder owns a 2.05 GAA and a .929 save percentage.
BU will look to extend its unbeaten streak to four games on Tuesday night when the Terriers travel to No. 4 Boston College. Puck drop in Chestnut Hill is set for 7 p.m.
