Noell & Morrison Win Gold in Day One of PL Championships

DAY 1 RESULTS
LEWISBURG, PA - Highlighted by gold-medal performances from senior Tehya Noell and sophomore Gillian Morrison, the Boston University women's track & field team competed in day one of the Patriot League Championships on Saturday at Bucknell's Gerhard Fieldhouse.
Noell won gold in the long jump with a 5.89m (19' 14") effort, outdistancing Alexa DiGregorio of Bucknell (5.76m 18' 10.75"). Junior Lovie Burleson took third in the event with a 5.75m (18' 10.50") jump to win bronze.
Gillian Morrison finished first in the pentathlon with a score of 3556 points, well ahead of second-place finisher Lynne Mooradian of Army (3420 points). The sophomore earned gold by finishing tied for first in the pentathlon high jump with a personal-best leap of 1.63m, third in the 800m run with a personal-best time of 2:30.03, and second in the 60m hurdles with a personal-best time of 9:10.
Tehya Noell also competed in the 60m dash and set a new personal-best time in the semis (7.65) to advance to Sunday's finals. Freshman Cecelia Gerstenbacher also advanced to the 60m dash finals with a fifth-place finish in the semis with a personal-best time of 7.68.
To finish off her remarkable day, Noell qualified for the finals of the 60m hurdles with the top time of 8.64 while sophomore Cynthia Aroke (fourth place - 8.90) and junior Kennedy Jones (eighth place – 9.07) also qualified for Sunday's final in the event.
BU finished day one of the PL Championships in fifth place with 31 points through five events with 15 events still to be decided.
