Compher, Schroeder Named to Hockey East All-Rookie Team

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Freshmen Jesse Compher and Corinne Schroeder of the Boston University women's ice hockey team were selected to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team, the league announced on Wednesday.

Compher was terrific at center for the Terriers all season. She played in all 34 regular-season games, scoring eight goals and adding 15 assists for 23 points. She also led all league rookies with 299 faceoff wins, and she finished second among Hockey East freshmen with a faceoff percentage of .545. Compher completed her rookie campaign third on the team in points with nine goals and 17 assists for 26 points after she tallied one point in each of the Terriers' three playoff games.

Schroeder shined between the pipes for BU this season, starting all 25 games in which she appeared. In 24 regular-season starts, Schroeder posted a .917 save percentage and a 2.41 goals-against average en route to a 12-7-4 record. She finished the year with a .913 save percentage and a 2.51 goals-against average. The Elm Creek, Manitoba, native made at least 30 saves on eight different occasions, including a 42-save performance in a 2-2 tie at New Hampshire on Oct. 29. 

This is the 10th straight season that at least one Terrier has been named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. In addition to the All-Rookie accolades, sophomore Abby Cook was the runner-up for the league's Best Defenseman award and senior captain Rebecca Leslie was the runner-up for the conference's Best Defensive Forward honor.
