Terrier Twelve - #10: Victoria Bach Rewrites the Record Book
July 3, 2018 | General, Women's Ice Hockey
For the 11th straight year, GoTerriers.com will once again count down the top 12 achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous year. Check back each Tuesday and Friday as we reveal this year's Terrier Twelve.
Coming in at No. 10 in this year's Terrier Twelve is Victoria Bach's record-setting season for the women's ice hockey team.
Bach turned in perhaps the best individual season in program history in 2017-18. She set new single-season standards for goals (39) and points (67) by a Terrier, adding her own career-high of 28 assists as well. Bach led the entire country in goals per game (1.18), total shots on goal (221) and shots on goal per game (6.70). In fact, Bach averaged a full shot on goal more than the second-place skater. Additionally, Bach finished second in the nation in total goals and in points per game (2.03).
A First Team All-American and unanimous Hockey East First Team All-Star, Bach was also first in the nation in even-strength goals (30), road goals (24) and goals away from home (31). She recorded 10 multi-goal games and was the only NCAA player to notch four hat tricks and two four-goal games. Bach's overall numbers may have been even better had she not missed four games in the middle of the season to serve as an assistant captain for Canada at the 2018 Nations Cup.
Bach also rewrote the all-time record book at BU. She scored her 100th career goal on Feb. 13, becoming the first player in school history to tally 100 goals at BU. In addition, Bach broke Sarah Lefort's program record of 183 career points and concluded her illustrious career with 198 points (104g, 94a).
It was not just Bach that etched her name into the Terrier record book this past season. Captain Rebecca Leslie, who also wore the 'C' for Canada at the 2018 Nations Cup, became the program's all-time assists leader after she recorded her 102nd career assist during the Hockey East playoffs. Leslie broke three-time Olympian Marie-Philip Poulin's record of 100 career assists at BU and graduated ranked fourth all-time in both goals (69) and points (171).
Leslie finished the regular season sixth among Division I players with 33 assists and seventh in Division I with a career-high 57 points. She also tallied a career-high 24 goals and finished as a plus-26. The Ottawa, Ontario, native recorded at least two points in 63.6 percent of her games and in 21 different contests. Leslie also became the first Terrier in program history to record 20 goals and 30 assists in the same season.
