Cross Country Teams Announce 2018 Schedules
July 27, 2018 | Women's Cross Country
BOSTON - The Boston University men's and women's cross country teams and head coach Paul Spangler announced the Terriers' 2018 schedules on Friday afternoon.
BU will host Florida State at Franklin Park as part of a seven-meet schedule that also includes the Patriot League Championships and the NCAA Northeast Regional. The Terriers will also race against some of the nation's best at NCAA Pre-Nationals as well as at the Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown.
"The teams and I are excited about this year's schedule," Spangler said. "If you want to be the best you have to compete against the best ,and that's just what our schedule will allow us to do. Each race will have multiple nationally ranked teams that will give us the competition we need to not only vie for conference championships but also contend for a spot at the national championships in November."
Both the men's and the women's squads will race in the same meets, beginning with a dual race against the Seminoles on Sept. 14. Both Florida State squads finished fourth at the NCAA South Regional last year.
Three of the first four competitions will take place at Franklin Park, as next up for BU will be the annual Coast to Coast Battle of Beantown on Sept. 21. Following a trip to Lehigh for the Paul Short Run on Sept. 29, the Terriers will return to Boston for the New England Championships on Oct. 7.
BU will head to Madison, Wisconsin, the site of the NCAA Championships (Nov. 17), on Oct. 13 to take part in Pre-Nationals. That will be the final meet before the Patriot League Championships, which will be hosted by Bucknell on Oct. 27. The Terriers will then travel to Buffalo, New York, for the NCAA Northeast Regional on Nov. 9.
